  • Delivery Driver & Shop Assembly

    Grand Rapids, MI

At Youngblood Automation, a division of H&P Technologies, we’re more than a distributor—we’re problem solvers helping customers power, move, and automate the world around them. From fluid power and motion control to cutting-edge automation solutions, our work supports manufacturers across a wide range of industries.

We are seeking a versatile, hands-on professional to join our team in a dual-capacity role as a Delivery Driver & Assembler. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a "best of both worlds" schedule: split between the road as a delivery driver and the shop as an assembly specialist. When you aren’t navigating local/regional routes, you will be an integral part of our build team, using tools to measure, cut, and assemble frames and projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate non-CDL company vehicles (such as box trucks or cargo vans) to transport goods to customer sites safely and on time.
    • Securely load products for transport and physically unload materials at delivery sites, often using hand trucks or pallet jacks.
    • Utilize GPS and navigation tools to determine the most efficient delivery routes while maintaining professional communication with dispatch.
    • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain customer signatures upon arrival.
    • Use hand and power tools to build and put together components according to specific instructions or blueprints. A few of the products could be:
      • Aluminum extrusion
      • Wire mesh
      • Polycarbonate panels
    • Accurately measure and cut materials (wood, metal, or plastics) to meet project specifications.
    • Inspect finished builds for defects and ensure all products meet our high-quality standards before they are staged for delivery.
    • Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.

    Skills & Experience

You don’t need to know everything on day one—we’re happy to train. A great fit brings:

    • Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL not required).
    • Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), as required for commercial motor vehicle operation.
    • Capability to lift at least 50 lbs frequently; must be able to climb, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
    • Proficiency with basic shop tools (saws, drills, tape measures) and a comfort level with manual assembly work.
    • Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude for face-to-face interactions during deliveries.
    • Forklift experience—or willingness to learn
    • High school diploma or GED required

    Critical Competencies

    • Teamwork: Building cooperation among individuals and departments, sharing information and resources, and working to achieve group goals and outcomes.
    • Communication: Listening effectively, transmitting information accurately and understandably, and actively seeking feedback.
    • Customer Focus: Understanding and meeting the needs of customers and addressing the interests and concerns of all organization stakeholders.
    • Professionalism: Dealing directly and forthrightly with people and problems, persisting to get the job done.
